Here’s WHY you'd love working for Brené Brown instead of Ivanka Trump.

Here’s WHY you'd love working for Brené Brown instead of Ivanka Trump.

They’re both powerful and smart women.

But I’d rather hang out with Brené at the company picnic. If I got BBQ sauce on my shirt, she’d laugh because she probably has spinach in her teeth.

I see MYSELF in Brené.

Ivanka, not so much. When she speaks, she’s poised and impeccably dressed. If  I accidentally burped in front of her, I’d run away in my dollar store flip-flops and stumble, a la Bridget Jones.

I don’t see myself in Ivanka.

Perfection kills connection.

Brené:

  • global following because she tells the truth about herself

  • doesn’t pretend to have it all figured out

Ivanka:

  • messages focus on success and confidence

  • stories feel curated

Brené’s vulnerability makes her seem APPROACHABLE.

Ivanka’s lack of vulnerability makes her seem DISTANT.

And if you’re a leader, relatability isn’t a soft skill. It’s strategic.

When people can see themselves in YOU, they’re more likely to follow your lead.

It’s about emotional access.

If you're trying to connect as a leader the lesson is clear: You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to be real.

And telling a story is a great way to get real. If you’d like me to help you and your team become more relatable, shoot me an email at TheGreatStoryWorkshop@gmail.com.
